Who's to blame-not the baby boomers says Randall

David Randall takes issue with Jeremy Paxman in the Indy this morning.

The Newsnight presenters Mail piece on Monday entitled The Most Selfish Generation in History blamed the causes of our current economic plight on the baby-boom generation and in particular it's immaturity, an inflated sense of entitlement, irresponsibility, self-absorption, pollution, an unhealthy preoccupation with sex, and grand larceny of state funds.

Randall, one of that generation along with Paxman and colleagues in the early 1970's at Cambridge University, takes issue with Paxman's thesis that those born between the late 1940s and 1965 have consumed but not invested, and so squandered their own children's inheritance.

The argument,he says comes from the old Newsnight/Today programme blame culture at work. Something's happened, so someone must be persuaded into the studio, put in the dock, and harangued into an admission of guilt
