Manchester project seeks returnee's stories

I have just heard about a great project being run by Manchester's Contact theatre.

The project, called (re)integration, seeks to collect the stories of people who have left and then returned to Manchester from every part of Manchester’s diverse community to create a video exhibition, which will be held in Manchester in February 2012.

Project organiser Tania Mahmoud says, ‘Having left and returned to Manchester myself I am fascinated by the subject of reintegration and the effect it has on communities. Do they still belong? Can they easily fit back in? Is there a piece of their former community they can never get back?’

Participants will need to be available for 2 workshops before the exhibition.

(re)integration is part of Future Fires, a programme that supports young emerging artists to plan and deliver their own community arts outreach project in Greater Manchester through a tailored programme of training, mentoring and support.

If you would like to contribute your experiences to the (re)integration project or
have a question, please contact Tania at t.mahmoud@hotmail.co.uk
