The Telegraph describes a battle between hope and fear as the election campaign gets under way.

David Cameron offered the country a “fresh start”, while Gordon Brown warns that the Tories can't be trusted with the economy.

The Guardian concentrates on the Prime Minister whom it says launched a month-long election campaign with a highly personal pitch to voters that sought to contrast his ordinary middle-class background with David Cameron,

The Mail is not happy with that saying that Gordon Brown fired the starting gun with a clear class war approach.

The Times describes a battle for Middle England as it reports the leaders
