once we have found the God particle can we concentrate on real issues?

As the Hadron collider has now been turned on,one can only assume that the world has not ended.
Scientists there after all have been explaining that the earth is bombarded with particles many times during every day at a far greater speed and energy than anything that will revolve underground in Switzerland.

Whether the experiments will turn up the existence of dark matter, the God particle or the theory of every thing remains to be seen.

However maybe this may be the time to end the spending of huge amounts of money under fundamental physics and instead turn our attentions to more pressing needs like alternative sources of energy, eradication of disease and feeding an ever growing population of earth.

right, we havnt proved anything and all that money could of been put to use by helping poverty and cancer research. finding ways to stop killing our planet. but! like they said there was a slight possability they could of killed the earth all in one, who the hell are they to decide the fate of the planet?. they dont own it, we all live here and were all equal, so we should all have a say in things like this anyway. but yes i agree all the money could of cured cancer or saved thousands of lives
