Until the subjct moved onto Gordon Brown,I thought that Alistair Darling did quite well on the Today programme.
It was unfortunate that he kept using the global factors to fall back on when talking about the recession but he stuck to his guns, particulaly over the accussation on borrowing and spending when the sun was shining.
But I wonder whether he will be Chancellor when Brown returns and does his wide ranging reshufle in early September.
The economy is now considered the most important subject for voters 24% think this compared to just 2% this time last year when people had not heard of a credit crunch.
I feel that the Treasury may need a more flambouyant resident
