Wot no Spring Conference

Can anything be read into Labour's cancellation of its Spring conference next year?

A sure sign that Labour is not planning an election at the four year mark next spring
says Adam Boulton.

He also notes that

The absence of a conference also removes one formal opportunity for a challenge to Gordon Brown

Surely though the answer is more simple. The party has no money.

Here is the official line

Instead of gathering in one place for a traditional conference with set piece speeches and formal meetings that only a limited number of people can attend, the Party will be seeking to make best use of its resources by engaging with as many members as possible through a combination of both events in your local area and online activities on labour.org.uk and Membersnet.
