Whilst on the subject of elections and with the latest Guardian ICM poll this morning hinting at a hung Parliament,Daniel Korski takes a look at what a Cameron-Clegg coalitiomn might look like.

Such a government would be inherently unstable, lurching from vote to vote and dependent on the relationship between a Prime Minister Cameron and Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat leader, as well as between George Osborne, the would-be Chancellor, and Vince Cable, who many think is a more qualified potential occupant of No 11. Party leaders would always be eyeing each other with suspicion, fearful that David Cameron would call a quick follow-up election.

Shock horror Tories planning for alliance with the Lib Dems

According to Conservative Home,the Tories are considering plans to tie up with the Lib Dems in the event of a hung parliament in 2010.

Tory strategists are hopeful that the next election will see the Liberal Democrat parliamentary party significantly reduced in size but they also believe that the Conservatives have a long-term interest in ensuring that Britain's third party looks as much to the Conservative Party as to the Labour Party as a future natural coalition partner.

Maybe this is not so much of a shock as one might think.The parties have several things in common including the defence of civil liberties as well as the obvious in their reactions to the economic crisis.

Clegg will support the Tories in a hung Parliament

This morning's Telegraph suggests that Nick Clegg will support the Tories in the event of a hung Parliament.

In consultations with senior members of the party, he said he was prepared to take the necessary steps that would enable the Tories to form a minority administration.
Mr Clegg ruled out taking a Cabinet seat in a Conservative government in return for his support and instead would provide Mr Cameron with "supply and confidence" – meaning he would promise to back a Conservative Budget and would side with the Tories in any votes of confidence

The qusetion is why choose now to make the announcement.According to the report,he has decided that the public would not forgive for supporting a Labour administration.
So watch out for further announcements that David Cameron will be supporting proportional representation
