Not all doom and gloom in media advertising as ITV beats the pundits

It appears that it is not all doom and gloom in the world of media advertising.

ITV have just published their figures for the last three months which shows that revenues rose by 1 per cent in the three months to September 30, defying expectations of a fall.

The growth comes on the back of the popularity of The X Factor, Doc Martin and rugby's World Cup tournament according to the broadcaster.

However ITV remains cautious about its prospects in 2012 and expects advertising revenues to decline by 10 per cent in December.

Its overall share of the TV market for the first nine months of 2011 is up 2 per cent to 23 per cent and it saw its external revenues increase 9 per cent to £224 million in the same period, also ahead of expectations.
