Get ready for Davos

Yes the economic talking shop,Davos that attempts to put the world to rights every year kicks off in the the Swiss mountains.

Five days of debates, private meetings dinners and drinks parties featuring bankers, and economists, foreign policy experts,NGOs and social entrepreneurs.

This years theme is "Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild" with the emphisis on looking no doubt at new economic and financial models and thinkin about how the world can come out of recession.

So far on the opening day,The Bank of England estimates that governments the world over have spent or committed $14 trillion to prop up the financial system following the fall of Lehman Brothers in September 2008.

Whilst top bankers took a swipe on Wednesday at U.S. and British moves to tighten regulation of their activities and pay, saying one set of rules were needed to govern the global banking industry.

However George Soros tells delegates that President Barack Obama's plan to impose a tax on large banks was premature and his wider proposals to rein in banks' activities may not go far enough.
