Wednesday's papers

The campaign for a new democracy continues, this time in the Independent which all three party leaders set out their visions for the future.

The Times describes how

An intense race to shake up the political system has begun as Gordon Brown and David Cameron compete to look more radical than each other in the wake of the expenses scandal.

The paper that began it all meanwhile reports how more than 40 Government ministers who have recouped the cost of accountancy bills on their expenses should have paid tax on the claims in the same way as ordinary voters according to Revenue and Customs

Away from expenses and the Guardian reports that

The home secretary Jacqui Smith faces legal action over allegations that MI5 agents colluded in the torture of a British former civil servant by Bangladeshi intelligence officers.

Finally the Mail claims that Buckingham Palace voiced anger last night after the French snubbed the Queen over next week's D-Day commemorations.
