The balance of economic power in the world has simply changed so much that more countries need to be included.
It’s quite likely the traditional powers of the US, Western Europe, and Japan would have preferred to address this crisis amongst themselves if it was possible. But it wasn’t.
For the first time and with the inclusion of China,Indonesia and Brazil the world summit actually repressented the majority of the world's peoples,over 2/3rds in fact.
But
what was more striking was the boldness these newly included countries showed in confronting the traditional world powers, often quite directly.
