Paul Waugh brings our attention to a speech that Shadow Welfare Reform Minister David Freud gave to the Lord Mayor of Canterbury's annual free lecture at the University of Kent.
Now we must make some very painful adjustments. It is clear we have been building our economy on a false premise. It will come back but may take five to seven years. We should make the recession as quick as possible even if that means making it deeper in the shorter term.
