I don't think that living in Manchester for five and a half years qualifies me as a Lancastrian.
Today though is Lancashire day.It commemorates this date in 1295 when the Palantine county sent its first representatives to sit in the English Parliament.
According to the LEP,
As an act of unity, and no matter where they are in the world, Lancastrians are asked to raise their glasses at 9pm GMT and drink the Loyal Toast to The Queen, Duke of Lancaster.
However if you thought this was an ancient custom think again,it was established in 1996
