Bounce or dead cat bounce?

So the first poll since SuperBrown got the World's financial sysytem back to trcak not surprsingly shows that the bounce is continuing into the electorate's hearts.

This morning's ComRes in the Independent shows that the double digit lead that the Tories held has returned to single figures and that

voters are not yet convinced that the Tory leader could handle the near-collapse of Britain's banking system, with a substantial disapproval rating of 56 per cent for Mr Cameron's economic skills. Just 25 per cent believe he would have handled it better than Mr Brown

I wonder how much David Cameron's speech on Friday to the city helped sway voters minds.

But before the Labour party get too excited, the lead is still 9 points and the cut is just three.

The News of the World's ICM poll is headlined the dead cat bounce

VOTERS reckon Gordon Brown is doing a good job handling the current economic crisis—but they still DON’T want to vote for him in the next election.
An exclusive News of the World ICM poll shows today that his recent return to favour is merely a “dead cat bounce

It is difficult to read too much into these. There is a You Gov poll of the marginals which is out on Wednesday which may give a clearer picture.
