Will Hilton's departure will the Cameron brand survive

The reports this morning that Steve Hilton is leaving for the West coast of America will mean that the focus will return to the Tories.

Hilton has been seen as the Alsitair Campbell of David Cameron's conservatives and has been credited with some brilliant PR work

Writing in the Telegraph Mellisa Kite quite rightly says that

When Mr Cameron took over in December 2005, the Tory brand was utterly tainted. The still "nasty" party's image was on the floor after a third successive general election defeat.
Mr Cameron decided he had to decontaminate the brand before he could think about policy. And who better to do that than his friend and advertising wunderkind Steve Hilton

He will be retained on a consultancy basis but quite someone is Los Angeles will have their finger on the pulse of British politics is hard to beleive.
