The pain factor


The news that the housing market is at its worst for 30 years in not good news for the government and those that want to feel our pain.

Neither is the news that inflation has hit £% prompting the governor of the Bank of England to put pen to paper and write to the Chancellor explaining how this could happen.

Rumours meanwhile abound that at this morning's cabinet Caroline Flint told her colleagues that

"We can't tell how bad it will get",
"We need to plan now to put in place effective measures against the risk that it does get worse" - which raises the question: what, then is the current strategy?
