Mandelson lets fly

Peter Mandleson's interview with the BBC could be considered the revenge of the fallen star.

Exiled to Brussels,he has returned to critise his arch rival.

the scrapping of the 10p tax rate was "a very big mistake".
And he warned Gordon Brown against abandoning one of the key tenets of New Labour - helping the poor.
and added that

it would have been "better all round" if Mr Brown had faced a contest for the Labour leadership last year.

For David Hughes the comments are

could hardly be a more barbed – Brown’s entire political credo is built on helping those on the bottom of the heap......So Brown has abandoned the poor and is an illegitimate leader. By now getting into his stride, Mandy goes on to dissect Brown’s decision to abort an autumn election last year – and effectively accuses him of losing his bottle.
