A good salesman with nothing to sell

David Cameron's preformance on Andrew Marr this morning hardly rates as a leader in waiting.Accepting that the latest problems for the government made an early election unlikely, the Tory leader failed to map out an alternate policy.

Continually pressed on policy issues he followed the line that he was not going tomake any promises on spending, taxation or borrowing.Only refering to inheriting the mess that the party will take over from Labour.

I am not sure whether voters will swollow this.Cameron has to start showing clear water between him and the other partys.

His economic policy is almost identical to Labour's with pledges to maintain spending at a level just below growth. There were never any examples of how he would change the cycle other than half hearted pledges to cut back on beaurocracy,to monitor real inflation and to look at criteria for lending.

I admiredDavid Miliband's comments directly after when refering to Cameron dsecribed him as "a good salesman with nothing to sell."
